Khloe's FAB shoes!

I was so excited to help Khloe and Kourtney get geared up for their new reality show they are filming in Miami. Look at how amazing these Giuseppe Zanotti Gladiator platform sandals are that I got for Khloe at Intermix! They are even more beautiful in person. Khloe is also wearing a short "Tulip" dress by Elizabeth and James, Fendi "Baguette" bag and a pair of oversized Ray-Ban sunglasses. Kourtney is wearing a dress by H&M, a pair of "Tribute" platform sandals by YSL and the "Arena Giant Work" bag by Balenciaga.

Kim at Maxim's Hot 100 Party

Check out how amazing Kim looked at the Maxim Hot 100 party! Can you believe this dress is from H&M and only cost $59.90? I could not believe it! It's available now but only in select stores. I paired it with a pair of Jil Sander Beak Toe D'Orsay pumps in black, Christian Louboutin "Traingolo" satin clutch in black and a Swarovski "Nirvana Jet" ring . I found these vintage clip on earrings at Perto Zillia. They have the BEST jewelry there for reasonable prices too! I LOVE this look!

Portraits of the Process

A few months back my good friend Maestro asked if I wanted to be a part of a project he was working on with Rickey Kim from Evil Monito. It's called Portraits of the Process which gives a behind-the-scenes glimpse of key individuals within the creative industry. These two are always working on cool projects so I made time to meet with them. We talked about what I do to prep for my jobs, from getting inspired to staying focused. Check out the trailer.

Kate Moss + Topshop

Kate moss is by far one of my favorite fashionistas!
She just released another cost friendly line for Topshop. The last collection she did for Topshop sold out within minutes, both in stores and online. Kate's summer 09' collection is heavy on prints, fringe, and sequins. I love the silver sequin blazer and the chunky necklace shown in the photos below. They are both on my wish list!

Off the chain!

Check out these Isabel Marant chain boots in taupe I ordered for Kim back in March from Curve. These boots are part of the Spring 09' collection and we've been patiently waiting for them to hit the stores. I just got word that they should be arriving next week! I cannot wait to see them in person! You will definitely see Kim rocking these boots very soon!

Chanel Paris-Moscow Pre Fall 2009: Focus on accessories

Karl Lagerfeld is a genius!

American Fashion Accessories

I wanted to share one of my favorite books in my fashion library, American Fashion Accessories by Candy Pratts Price. Candy is also the executive fashion director for Style.com. This book is the ultimate accessory bible! It has images of every fashion accessory that has ever exited in pop culture! Below are some images of a few style icons who are featured in the book. This would be a perfect gift choice for someone who appreciates fashion!

Khloe Kardashian at the Maxim Hot 100 Party

One of my new clients I just added to my roster is my girl Khloe Kardashian. She is so much fun to work with and I enjoy being around her because she makes me laugh my a** off! It's always very challenging to create a new look for a client. It takes time and its always good to take baby steps.
When Khloe asked me to dress her for the Maxim Hot 100 party it was a no-brainer to put her in something formfitting and sexy!

When I came across this one shoulder Kova & T "Alaina" dress at Diavolina Boutique I knew it was the perfect dress. I thought it was very simple but the asymmetrical neckline made it interesting and went beyond the boring little black dress. For shoes I wanted to use these new FAB Ankle Buckle High Heel sandals by Camilla Skovgaard which were ordered from shopbop.com. I decided not to use accessories because I wanted to go with a more simple look.

She was even awarded Most Improved by X17!

Kim's night out at STK.

For my first post I wanted to show how to achieve the look I created for Kim's night out at STK with her girls. I love this outfit! I have had the pleasure of working with Kim Kardashian for almost a year. She is AMAZING to work with because she LOVES to take fashion risks which is a stylist's dream!

I was inspired by this amazing vintage wrap Donna Karan blazer that was a great find. I found this gem at one of my favorite stores, Beige in Los Angeles. When using a vintage statement piece it's always good to keep everything else modern and simple so it doesn't start looking like a costume. In this case, I kept it simple with a pair of black LnA Dani Stahl zipper leggings , a lace black bodysuit by Zimmermann which is a great layering piece. And last, a pair of Yves Saint Laurent Black Patent Leather Cage Boots.

To complete the outfit, I added a vintage inspired 1960's resin plated necklace by House of Harlow that I am obsessed with. Kim added the Mandy Clutch in Black by Kooba (which is a great basic black clutch/ investment piece) that was purchased at Revolve Clothing.com.

Stay tuned as I will post how to get this look for less.

Hello!

I would like to start by introducing myself. My name is Monica Rose, I am an L.A. based stylist. I decided to create this blog to show aspiring stylists what I do on various assignments. This includes a lot of consultation with my clients, preparation, putting on the finishing touches just before red carpet events, photo shoots and television shows. For me, this blog will be a journal of my work, to see it evolve. I hope it inspires some of you to follow your dreams and aspirations in fashion.

I started freelance styling back in 2003. I learned my trade on the job and by taking chances. This is not something I learned in school. Styling always came very naturally to me. For me it’s my passion, which I decided to pursue full force after almost 10 years of retail jobs. I didn't have a plan to fall back on and I knew I had to make it happen. Through hard work and determination, I reached the goals I set for myself.

Even though it can be crazy and very stressful at times, the most important thing is that I love what I do. The business can be challenging, but it helps me create! I also enjoy having a hand in helping my clients feel good about themselves. Not only do I get to dress my clients, but the looks we create gives them the confidence to walk in-front of a camera and feel beautiful. It's the best feeling and it motivates me more every time. I never thought in a million years I would be doing this as a profession. I have made it this far and I am anxious to see what the future holds. I am excited about sharing my journey with you all on my blog. Please feel free to leave comments, questions as I would love to hear from my readers! So let's get started!
